WILDLIFE EXPERIENCES

As the meeting place of two World Heritage Areas,

Port Douglas is a must-visit for travellers interested in wildlife

Meet the locals at your resort!

The Great Barrier Reef and the ancient Daintree Rainforest are home to thousands of species of creatures and there are numerous ways to see them up close.

Club Wyndham Port Douglas also brings wildlife to you! The resort has approximately 10 Australian barramundi who live in a series of ponds running from the edge of the property through to the waterfall. Guests are given special fish food at the start of each stay, and kids (and even adults) enjoy using it to feed the resort’s fish!

The resort is home to native bearded dragons and hosts huge numbers of Ulysses butterflies and Cairns birdwings, while yellow-bellied sunbirds and magpie geese nest onsite. The resort offers a gardening tour on Fridays at 8am so guests can learn about the native vegetation, and a nature tour on Mondays at 10.30am where guests can see the wildlife the premises.

Once a month, the team concludes the nature walk with a wildlife experience where a reptile handler brings in a snake or a native bearded dragon! Don’t worry – the snakes are not venomous.

CLUB WYNDHAM CHIKUMAKAN NAGANO

Located in Nagano, Japan

People come from the world over

To experience Japan’s hot springs or onsen

And rest and rejuvenate in its beautiful mountains

Healing heat

Onsen waters are a luxurious bathing experience and are linked with smoother skin and are said to reduce conditions like atopic dermatitis. No matter where you go, onsen have rules that are steeped in tradition or even legislated. Some of these are that you must bathe naked, clean yourself before getting into the water, keep your head above water and, generally, not bathe if you have tattoos.

Club Wyndham Chikumakan Nagano features five onsen and was rated as having one of Japan’s 100 Best Onsen by The Forum on Thermalism in Japan. The resort features an open air onsen overlooking a green garden and a pond with carp, while its indoor onsen boasts stained glass windows and tiles in the fashion of Taisho romanticism.

Onsen are dotted throughout Japan so, if you choose to stay at any of your Sundance Resort Club properties, you can easily access a public onsen. Resorts in areas well-known for onsen include: Hakone-Miyagino, Izu-Kogen, Tateshina, Hakone-Gora, Atami, Katsuura, Awa Kamogawa, Nasu, Kusatsu and Karuizawa.

While Sundance Resort Club properties are club resorts, Club Wyndham Nagano is an affiliate resort that is accessible through Club Wyndham South Pacific. This is a benefit provided by the Developer, Wyndham Destinations International, and is separate from your membership. This benefit can be withdrawn or changed at any time.
